Adam and I had a complicated relationship during high school. We often found ourselves at odds and couldn't stand each other. I thought he was too animated for my taste, while he thought I was stuck-up and bratty. Two years after graduation, I ran into him at a car wash. I was with my father, who had just bought me my first car, but all I could feel was embarrassment. I was dressed down and wearing crocs, but I couldn't shake the feeling of why do I care? It's not like I liked him. But, little did I know that the high school glow-up had crept up on him. A few days after our chance meeting, it seemed that we were both thinking about that exchange because he followed me on Instagram and then messaged me. We chatted for days and were surprised to find that we got along better than we ever had before. They say it's always when you least expect it and with the person you least expect. I'm excited to spend the rest of our years together.
